The Second book to the Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens series, Leah on the Offbeat is about a young teenaged girl who plays the drums in band, she’s got some curves, and she might just be bisexual. But she has not told any but her mother. Going a school with mostly rich kids and living a more financially restricted life and being bigger than what is considered “socially acceptable” Leah does not want to add an addition target to her. She just wants to fly low until graduates at the end of the year. But, low and behold she battles her own emotions as she tries to figure out why she is so awkward around one of her friends.

I really cannot do this book justice. I loved it! I really wish that there was a book like this when I was in high school. Most of the books that were out there were about gay guys coming out because society has deemed it harder for men to come out than women. Which I think it’s equally hard both sides. But, I digress. I wont make this blog a coming out story! Continuing on. I feel that anyone who is struggling with their identity show read this book. I think could help not only teens but also adults.
Yeah the book was a little Young Adult but, I normally read murder mystery books. So I will not hold that against it in the least bit. This book really touched base on what it is like in the head of someone struggling with being bisexual. It was pretty much on point. So I would even go as far as saying parents of an LGBT teen should read this book. It would give them a good invite into their kids head. Now that I have totally gone off the rails with this one, I would give this one a 5/5 stars because how on point it is.
