The nightingale by Kristin Hannah

So I saw a lot of my friends on the Facebook book club and the goodreads app kept raving about this book called the nightingale. So I thought, it must be really good so I’m not going to research it. So without even reading the “books matter” I hopped right in! Now I absolutely loved this book and I am glad that I didn’t research the book like I usually do. Doing so made the twist and turns even sharper. I was on a roller coaster of emotions and the Kristin Hannah was in charge. If I had to score this book, I’d score it 10/10. This book made me laugh, cry, rage with anger, and completely shocked me! At one point it shook me so bad that I had to set it down and go hug my cat because it gave no warning to something completely unexpected and tragic! This book will stay with me for the rest of my life. If this book does not affect you to your core, you have no soul.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so I warned you. In big bold red letters, spoiler alert. If you scroll past that, you only have yourself to blame if you get upset with the fact that I am going to talk about this book in detail and spoil it just a little. I won’t give the ending away because, that’s just rude! But, I will be talking about the book in great detail!

The first thing you need to know is that this book takes place during the holocaust! So grab your box of tissues! This book is about two sisters who are polar opposites. One wants to fight the good fight and the other just wants to keep her head down and live to see the end of all this darkness. Now, I understand both sisters sides. One of them is a rebel and DOES NOT like being told what to do, I can relate. But, the other has a family so of corse any good mother would do anything to protect her kids and in some situations just keeping your mouth shut is the best thing you can do. With an SS soldier living in her home, she really neeeded to keep her head down.

I cannot even lie to you, when the nazi’s opened fired on the border and one of the main characters children died, I lost my shit. I cried and I never in my life cried because of a book!

As always Kristin Hannah did an amazing job on this book. I fell in love with her when I read The Great Alone and then when I saw she also wrote this book, I knew it would be amazing and it truly was. So, stop reading my review, go pick this book up, grab a box of tissues and read this book!
